In my room

And the Mayor of Whosboro is at my house RIGHT NOW. It is weird having him here, like he's this person who's been trying his best to ruin all our lives, but he's here apologising in full to Dad and Mom. When he came in, Dad was right with him and I was sitting on the stairs waiting for them to get there. Everybody in town who knew was kinda expecting him so I wasn't the only one waiting, just all of my sisters gave it up after a while I had been ATTEMPTING to write a piece of music that was going really badly when they came in. "K.C., this is my son JoJo." dad introduced me. I jumped off the steps. "Hello." He said. I didn't like the way he was looking down at me like I was really really REALLY small so I just nodded and Dad continued. "If you wanna look around in here, be my guest. These are all of the McDodds since the beginning of Whoville." He turned and motioned to all the portraits on the walls in the hall. umm... you probably havn't been in there, so i guess I can explain it a little. It's got all these pictures on the walls, like Dad said, all the McDodds that ever lived... or at least, all the mayors of Whoville. Dad wants his picture up there. That's one of his ambitions... maybe the only one, I dunno. but anyway, the MaGee guy was impressed. He walked up and down it for a while, Dad let him go by himself once then went with him and told him everybody's names and stuff. I kept watching them until they came back to the door side. "And here's the next great mayor of Whoville." He ruffled my hair and I grinned a little. "Not really." I said. "Yes really. Uhhh..." Dad thought for a few moments, I think he was wondering on whether or not to tell him all I did and stuff. Guess he didn't tell him earlier. I'm glad. Especially In front of the guy who was... ya know, who I did it against. So Dad didn't say anything. Except about the Symphoniphone, which is usually a bit of a secret but it's not like he lives here and is gonna go play with it or anything. He... the other mayor, looked at me again. He seemed a little indecisive as to what to do at first, then he kneeled down so we were almost at eye level with each other. I don't particularly like it when people do that, I'd rather... but I didn't ever tell anybody that so I guess I can't blame them.

"Well, JoJo McDodd, I'm sorry for attempting to run your future. I'm sorry, that sounded light, but I promise, I don't take it lightly. Will you forgive me?" "yeah." I said and tried to think of something else to add but couldn't really come up with anything. He shook hands with me then stood back up. "Well, Ned. Shall we go see your wife and... how many daughters?" "96 daughters and 2 sons." dad said with pride. "Hmmm... quite a few then." Dad nodded, beaming. Okay, my cue to leave.

So now I'm in my room and he's still here. I dunno if Dad invited him to stay to dinner or not. I think he's already seen the counsel... now I kinda feel bad for him, if he had to deal with those guys. And Dr LaRue and the dean and Dr Wocket too.

Speaking of Dr Wocket, I saw him yesterday, I just forgot to mention it.

"I never fully congratulated you on a job well done, did I, JoJo? Well all I can say is, well done. I Don't know what else to say." "it's okay." I Said. A job well done is fine by me.

Almost caught

Well I'm not internet grounded anymore, but I don't have much to say that I didn't already say in my LJ. Except I'm still scared. I had a dream last night that I was somebody else and I was walking down a street and I saw MYSELF lying by the side of the road really beaten up and I woke up in a cold sweat, I still don't know if I was dead or alive but I don't want to have it again and find out.
So Dr Wocket caught me. At town hall. In dad's office. I was actually doing it- going through his stuff. I heard somebody knock on the door. "Yipe!" I jumped off his chair and dove behind the desk. Not a very smart idea, if you ask me, cause if it had been Dad...
"JoJo, what are you doing behind my desk?" "Uhhh... nothing. Just... hiding... from... you... in your office where I didn't need to be in the first place..."
But it wasn't Dad, it was the Doctor. "Mr. Mayor? Anyone here? Did someone say yipe?" I stood up and hit my head on the desk. Ouch. That will leave a bump. "Oh it's you." I said. "JoJo? I'm glad to find you here. What... well, never mind. I have a plan. My plan is for you to actually write notes to me. Yes, this could be more dangerous, but it could also be safer. You will write letters addressed to an uncle. And sign them with a different name and mail them to me with the who-post box on first street." "What if somebody finds one and regognizes my handwriting?" Now for the first time I regret my one-of-a-kind handwriting. Yes, it's very distinctive. And if somebody who knew it saw it that's it for me. "Hmmm... that could be a problem. My only other theoretically possible option requires an in-between. Hmmm... I suppose we may yet have to involve Dr. LaRue. I do not wish to do this, though. I will speak with her again and I will catch you again. Wait... I have it! JoJo!" I was feeling the bump on my head... maybe Mom wouldn't see it if I keep my hair over my forhead all the time... "What?" "Your observatory! It's the perfect spot! Noone notices you going there, and if someone DID notice me I could make up an excuse for beig there easily! It's perfect, nobody but you ever goes there!" He was very eager, but I still mostly like it to be secret. "Well... I guess so." I siad reluctantly. "Let's see.. how do you get up there?" I described how I do it in as little detail as I could manage. And really, it was kinda hard, it's so natural for me I just do it without thinking. "I'll... do something so you know I'm up there. Like a note or something. It wouldn't be too weird, I guess." "Yes, it's settled then! Thank you very much, young man. I have always wanted to see this invention of yours." He was really eager. "Yeah sure." He said then "I came to see your father, do you know where he is?" "Uhhh... no I don't. I just came over here to... look through his stuff. Miss Yelp wasn't here either." "She's here now." "Oh drat. Do you think she'll notice that I just came out of Dad's office from nowhere?" He laughed. "Maybe." then I took one last look at the desk and saw it. "Yes!" I didn't see it all along, but this was a whoprint of the gym, with some things crossed out and others written in black that aren't there now. It was signed, too. "Hmmm..." he looked at it, then back to me. "This is what they want?" "Yeah. Look, you didn't just see me take it. Oh wait... this might be bad on you... I will..." I grabbed a pen and started copying it onto another sheet of paper, and I had it mostly done when I heard the rush of air that meant somebody was coming. They copy wasn't done, but I stuck it in my pocket anyway. I heard Dad ask Miss Yelp if anyone was here to see him, "A Doctor Wocket" she replied. "He's been in there a while for being alone." I looked at him with an expression that tried to convey that Uh-oh this might be bad for him. He nodded. Then my mind flew fast to a reason why I might be there... aha! I had it, then Dad came in. "Hello Doctor... JoJo? What are you doing here, and why are you standing on my desk?" "I came to get my WCD. I left it here last time." Yes, at least I did leave it last time. "Oh, okay. I may have put it in my desk." I jumped off and dug through the drawer while Dad greeted Dr Wocket. "I'm so sorry to hear about the break-in, and believe me, we're doing the best we can to find out who did it..." Got it. "I got it, Dad. See you at home." "Let me see your eye." I rolled my eyes. "Okay then, see you at home bud."
And I gave Miss Yelp a fright when I came out of the office- she didn't see me go in so it was like I just materialized out of nowhere. I was tempted to play it up and get back at her for those WhoSpace videos, but I didn't. "My word, sweetie, don't DO that again!" "Sorry Miss Yelp." I smirked.
But phew, that was close. Hope Dr Wocket doesn't get in big trouble for that. And I don't even like this WCD anymore. I listened to it and now I wish I'd left it at his office!
Oh, and Mom did notice the bump on my head. "What happened there?" She said. "I hit it on Dad's desk." She shook her head and sighed. "That desk is out to get all theMcDodds." She smiled. "It's already going after you!" I just shrugged.

NO COMPUTER????

I read Riverdance's entire "The Wizard of Who!" and it was kinda funny... I'd be hearing a lot more than "Shut up JoJo" if I really did make those remarks.
Anyway, everything's... good. I heard in school that there was gonna be a "postponement of the opening of the new branch of Who-Foods" because "The mayor seems to have misplaced the only copy of the budget he had" he spilled coffee on the others accidentally and they were unintelligible. I feel really bad about it, but he just took and and said "Good work, Pup. Now we need something more... important? Like what the counsel is planning to do for the gymnasium. I know they didn't fix it yet. Foolishly enough, they think they're gonna get evidence- Stem is usually too careful for that." And he shook his head as if thinking. There were now about 10 guys there, it was still too dark for anybody to see who each other were. I said "Why is it so dark in here?" there were a few laughs. "You don't know anything, do you?" I was offended. "Neither do you." I said. "Turn it off, kid." He snapped. "You don't really want trouble with these guys, do you?" No, I didn't, but I didn't want him to think he was scaring me... even if he was. "Think I'm scared?" "You should be." He waved it off. You get those plans, hear? I'll give you... five days. You got it by then and..." He trailed off. "Go on now. I'm gonna try to... never mind get home and... just scram. Tomorrow, Pup." I went back and I WAS mad. He just brushed me off like he'd use me and drop me. Oh, no, I'm not gonna let them do that.
And I'm infamous, especially since Mrs. Whoovier is going around with a bandaged arm and is busy telling everyone about how I viciously attacked and bit her. In fact I heard somebody saying "Did you hear? JoJo McDodd got bit by a rabid dog and he wanted the whole school to get it too so when he dies all the teachers will too." That was at school in the hall. I think they knew I was listening. It was a couple of girls... I couldn't help myself, really I couldn't. "Grrrrr." I growled at them and bared my teeth and they screamed. I rolled my eyes. Girls. I brushed it off just like that, but on the way home from school, Hester passed me. I was surprized, she's usually staying with her friends. "JoJo I'm telling Dad!" She ran off "Telling him what?" I called. She didn't answer. But when I got home Mom was standing at the door and looking stern. "Your dad is home. He wants to see you in his office. NOW." I dropped my backpack and went over there. "JoJo, son, what has gotten into you?" "What do you mean?" I really had no idea. "I have told you and told you to be a gentleman to ladies. Haven't I?" "Ummm... yeah..." "And you... growled at somebody? That's very immature." And I knew what he was talking about. "Awww, Dad, they were making fun of me." "JoJo, you can't keep doing this stuff and expect not to be punished." I was feeling bad about stealing his paper, so I decided to accept whatever punishment he doles out. Except the one he did... "No computer for the weekend." "DAD!" "No arguing, young man. I'm sorry, you need to learn to behave yourself." "But... but..." I was not prepared for this. "No butting me this time, JoJo. I'm sorry, this kind of behavior has no excuse." I sighed. "Can I have five minutes?" "You got until tomorrow."
I went out and after jumping on Hester I came in here to write this, so I'll see you all later.

Harder than I thought.

Okay… I am trying to calm down. I did it. I’m in. No backing out now. After I write this I’m gonna go meet somebody… and I don’t know what will happen then. Whoo… well, it wasn’t very pleasant how I got in. I went to school, knowing what I’d have to do, telling myself “YOU got yourself into this, McDodd, carry it through.” And I did.

The Teachers...

So far, so good, it’s great to be home. But… well, Dad called all my teachers. I wasn’t in the room at the time. But Dad called me soon enough. I knew they’d all want to talk to me- more like scold and lecture and a few of them might want to yell at me, but I was ready. “Hello?” My Whology teacher was on the phone. “YOU ARE A VERY, VERY BAD BOY!!! Do you realize what heartache and pain you caused your parents? You ought to be ashamed of yourself!” I tried to speak, but she kept on going. “And you have not been to school Two weeks! Do you realize that? TWO weeks! Do you know how much homework piles up over two weeks?” “I thought school was canceled for most of that because of the snow!” I said quickly before she could keep talking. There was a pause on the other end of the line. “Well, that’s not an excuse for bad behavior. I should hope you’re parents are punishing you in the way they see fit.” I’m afraid this I found hilarious, and I couldn’t stop from laughing. “What? That’s not funny!” She sputtered. “No, no it’s not, I’m sorry…” “Of all the rudeness!” and she hung up. I sat down in Dad’s chair. Yeah, I’d been standing in it. “Oh, boy. Hope that’s not an indication of how class is gonna go.” I said, handing dad back the phone. He was looking at me with a sad smile. “That’s… the first time you laughed in a long time, son.” He said. I looked down. I didn’t know how to reply. But I don’t think dad wanted a reply. He looked up the next teacher’s phone number. “You might wanna stick around, JoJo. The next one will probably want to talk to you as well.”
So all the calls went a little like that- gym teacher was a little upset about the gym being destroyed partially, but he was still able to… scold. And the hardest one was my writing teacher. I really like her- that’s why I like doing this a lot, but she was… well, she sounded like she didn’t trust me anymore. I do… I think that’s fair. I don’t think anyone will completely trust me anymore. But now I have to live with it. I always will have this scar though. And it’s all my fault. But… I’ll manage. I kinda have to, now.
I really, really want to go try to fix up the symphoniphone. I know I can, but I don’t really want to go out when I’m grounded. If somebody caught me, and told my parents that I’d been out, and that I’d not stayed home when I was supposed to, that would be really, really bad. I don’t want to mess up again. So, because it’s wrong, I won’t. I don’t want to let them down… again.

I'm back

I’m back. I arrived back last night, at around two in the morning. This is a really long post, but please do read it.

Saturday, January 30, 2010

And to make everything worse, guess who showed up. Mayzie. Said she was gonna help with keeping everyone under control. But all she's doing is driving me nuts! I'm surprised she isn't leaning over my shoulder right now reading what I type! And she keeps wanting to talk. And wanting me to answer. I don't want to! I WANT to be alone! I wish everybody'd go away! Just leave me alone! Oh, someone's knocking on the door. Come to see the zoo, I guess. I hear... Mayzie! "I'll get it!" Oh man I can't...

Update: Whoa that was really really bad. Mayzie was going for the door, I ran out of the office and tried to get the door before her, we both tripped and I was getting off of her when Dad came in. "Dad!" I said at the same time as Mayzie said "Mr Mayor!" And he said "JoJo! Mayzie? Where's your mom?" I stood up and dusted off and said "Upstairs." "Okay. I'll talk to you later, JoJo." and he gave us both a funny look before running up the stairs. I looked sideways at Mayzie. She was red. And she said "Maybe I'll go home now." I was releived, but then Hallie had to come in and ruin it by saying "Mayzie! Help! JoJo! Get in here!" And I reluctantly followed Mayzie. I REALLY hope I wasn't blushing. Now Dad's... hever mind, but he's home. I think al the girls were relieved, but I can't help remembering.

Panic!

Brathe, JoJo, breathe. Whew... okay... well, the baby is on the way, and I don't know what to do, and I just got away from Hester attacking at me for not calling the doctor (which I did) and she was sitting on me saying "Call him! Call him!" and I was saying "When you're sitting on me I can't do ANYTHING!!!" But she wouldn't listen to me and she's a lot heavier than me and I couldn't get her off until Hallie came along and got her off me and I could breathe long enough to tell them I called him already and then I already called Dad and now I can't do anything but type run-on sentinces on the computer! I feel so... helpless! And worthless. I mean, Hallie's out there trying to knock some sense into Hester (dad's not home to tell her not to beat up her sisters and my ribcage is brused enough anyway) and... somebody else (I can't remember her name) is keeping all the younger sisters under control and I'm sitting here being worthless. Oh, I think the doctor's here, I gotta go get him.

Why didn't he just stay?

There was some trouble at the U yesterday and apparently some of the classrooms were vandalized. Even Dr LaRue's lab! And I am thinking it's too random not to be connected to whatever dad's doing. And it has me a little worried. But not as worried... look, I'm not mad at my Mom. It's not... completely... her... fault... that she's pregnant... but she didn't have to agree with Dad about him going away. If she didn't let him go or she didn't waant her to go, then he wouldn't have gone and left me here to take care of 96 sisters and a pregnant mother. He could have just stayed until... the baby came. Which will be soon. I feel sick.

Yuck!

Dad left this morning. I finally calmed down enough to come out of my room this morning. Actually I had to, it's a school day. I didn't come out yesterday at all. But anyway, I had to go to breakfast once I came out. Mom wanted me to sit in Dad's chair but I didn't want to. And she said she wasn't thinking that morning and she made two cups of coffee for her and dad but dad had to go and would I want his? And I tried it and spit it out. She made it just like he wanted it. Bitter. Yuck. And school didn't go too well either. I couldn't focus, and everyone was asking if I felt alright for some reason. I guess I look sick. I feel sick too. And mad. Sick-mad. I don't know what to do. I feel helpless. And like they don't need my help. Like they don't need me. And like I can't even write correctly.
And that thing about my life confusing me isn't funny.

Blah

I'm back! And still sick. Yesterday I thought I was all better. Went to dad's study to use the computer. Shut the door. When I stood up in the study I felt dizzy and unstable- I guess I must have blacked out, because the next thing I knew, dad was carrying me to my room. I guess I'm pretty light. As my eyes flickered open, dad said "JoJo! Are you alright?" and one of my sisters (who were following Dad) said "Oh! He's not dead, never mind." Dad put me back in my bed "What happened?" he asked "How long were you in there? I got home and sent Heidi to my study and she came back screaming that you were dead on the floor." I must have been in there for a couple hours; I got off the computer at 11:30 and Dad didn't get home until around 3. I told him that, and suddenly mom was there. "Oh, JoJo, I'm so sorry! I thought you were asleep in your room!" They left. And I was mad- I mean, I know I just woke up from being unconscious for three hours in Dad's study- But nobody knew I was gone. I know, that seems selfish, but I was lying unconscious on the floor for THREE HOURS! Also, nobody goes into Dad's study while he's gone? That seems a little weird. I'm amused that my sisters thought I was dead. Oh, yeah, dad brought me his old Who-Top to my room and that's how I'm writing this now. I didn't want to risk it again. Oh, I just got word. Mayzie's sick from coming to our house. Serves her right.

Some more...

Lets see... Oh, sophowhos and freshwhos had a half day at school today (hooray) and so I was home early (not-so-hooray) but anyway, one of my sisters came home from school with a stomach bug... and now about forty of them have it. Anyway, my mom was really busy taking care of them all, so the rest of us had to kinda fend for ourselves. Which is a good thing, for me. I can stay in my room all day if I want. But then Dad assigned us into crews of about ten apiece to do normal stuff Mom usually does. so we have groups of us doing different household chores. One team does cooking lunch, one dinner, one cleans the girls room and so on. And they all have leaders. Haley leads the girls room team, Hanna leads the kitchen-cleanup and guess who leads the dinner making? *sigh* I guess we'll all be having cold potatoes for a while.

Updates while my emotions are under control-
My family is well
Whoville's well
School is blah
and I'm not so good.
My mom's "Farther along" than anyone besides her knew, so the baby is expected in about a month (for you humans, remember that we are WHOS, not humans) and all the doctors say it's probably gonna be a boy. Dad's excited, Mom's "excited", Sisters are excited and what is wrong with me? Everyone who I actually told (that's you guys) thinks I should be excited, but I have this sick feeling... about replacement. I know that sounds really dumb, but it's true. So painfully true. It's so hard. Why is this so hard?

Monday, January 11, 2010

Okay

I'm okay now and I can talk like a sane person. Uhhh... my sisters all want the baby to be a boy. Probably so they can have somebody else to rough up. I mean, whenever they get really up, They start atacking each other and my dad says don't attack your sisters so all the attention goes to yours truly.
Ps. Whan I said sobbing I meant sobbing, NOT crying, although I did some of that too.

Thursday, January 7, 2010

OH WOW OH WOW!!!

OH WOW!!! I just read the book Horton Hears a Who! I was so dissapointed! There was hardly any mention of me at all, they made my dad NOT my dad and they made me all red and they made me tiny! Oh wow oh wow!!! And the mayor of Whoville (not my dad) came into the room, Jo-Jo (because that was not me!) was bouncing a yo-yo, not making a sound! So they invented my name, JoJo, to ryme with YOYO????? At least I... that thing... said yopp. And he saved the world with his yopp! And the mayor had ugly glasses! Wow!!!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

So, yesterday the meeting between my dad and the chairman wasn't so good- The chairman did most of the talking. And it wasn't very nice. Miss Yelp went with my dad and she told me what happened- first they discussed the original problem which I have no idea what it was, then they moved on- the Chairman says "And furthermore, CHILDREN should not be allowed to meetings of the counsel!" And my dad said "He's going to be the mayor after me, so he's got to know the works" and the chairman said some nasty stuff about my dad and THEN some nasty stuff about ME (which Miss Yelp wouldn't tell me) and booted him out of his office.
Another thing- this morning before school my mom asked me to help with the dishes because the dishwasher is broken and in a family our size we have a super who-matic dishwasher and they don't sell those everywhere so she appointed me and Harriet dishwashers! And so, we were about 30 minutes late for school. Teachers were NOT happy. So my dad's in trouble with the board of Who-middle, Who-high AND the city. I hope he gets out of trouble soon.

Tuesday, January 5, 2010

"We Have all that we need..." My dad took me out of school today to go with him to work- it's the first time since... last January? Wow, that seems like a LONG time ago! So much has happened! And, well, not much has changed between my dad and the head chairman- really bad- they did the glass again today. I think it's what? The first time this week? Anyway, I was almost decapitated by a large glass enclosure falling from the ceiling and once the head chairman saw that he'd managed to keep me inside instead of out he was like "We'll discuss this later" so now I'm in my dad's office all alone. It's pretty cool in here- not just because it's snowing outside, but dad also mounted the horn (the horn) and all this other junk like a pair of red skis (why?) and it's really interesting in there now. My dad should be back soon- he's been gone over an hour. Which either means that something terrible has happened or he's making some headway with the chairman. Hopefully, it's the second one. I'm NOT looking forward to being mayor.

My Dad's sad

And, believe it or not, I have been posting on this thing every day- I'm not as busy as I thought!- and everything is running smoothly here. Ummm... for those of you who saw that line about fifty years before I erased it that was totally my fault. I scanned that article really really quickly! So, it really was 100 years since he was here and I hope he never comes back!
Besides all that, They had some technical problems with the giant meatball, so maybe it'll be a giant Plate of spaghetti instead. My dad's really disappointed, so if you see him don't mention it, okay?

Friday, December 25, 2009

THIS IS MY DAD'S IDEA!
He said "As the next mayor, you currently should assist in community service."
I Said "I HAVE preformed community service!" (I mean, Doesn't saving the world count anymore?)
He said "I know you can do more."
So I picked a subtle way to do more.
So, here's the blog, where you can find out what's up in Whoville.
